Ancho Grande are dried Poblanos, they are aromatic, flexible and have thick-ish flesh with a fruity-sweet and liquorish flavour. This makes Ancho the dried chilli available. It is Used as a marinade, rub or as an additional ingredient for cooking. Ancho has a strong flavour, but a low heat of approximately 2500 SHU.

Maybe it's because I'm spoiled having recently returned from living in the South of the USA, but these chillis seemed overly dried out and old, the taste was anaemic at best.

Lovely plump tasty chillis with exactly the right amount of moisture, heat and flavour.
